After the positive experience with the Michell Mycro driven by a Lenco motor I have been collecting bits to try a full Orbe version.  Finally made a start.

The frame is from a Michell Syncro, the bearing a new Gyro one.  Legs are delrin which in black has rather nice rings in it so should look good when polished up.

I drilled and countersank some holes for these special resonators to hold the legs - available in all good DIY shops in the cupboard handle section.

With platter in place it is obvious the arm is going to be too low but thankfully I had a nice custom extension made by Steve when I was going to fit a 12" arm to the Lenco Syncro.  A bit of dremel work on the frame and it fits a treat.  Steve also made the bearing flange in the first picture.

I was originally intending to paint the frame black but seeing it with the Ittok in place I'm now in two minds.  I'll stare at it a while until it tells me what to do.

Thanks Keith.

Well it's spoken to me and the frame is going black.  It'll have to wait until the weekend by which time we are supposed to be getting some warm, quiet weather so spraying outdoors should be OK.

Interesting work as always but haven't you already got a black frame you could take from your Mycro Lenco?

Malcolm, you missed a couple but they are black laugh........or maybe 50 shades of grey?

Piero, the Mycro Lenco bearing fits into a thread in the Mycro frame which is the wrong size for the Gyro bearing.  In any case I want to keep the Mycro in tact rather than break it up for this build.

Thanks for the encouragement every one else smiley

To be honest Roger, this has got to be one of the simplest builds out there.  Collecting the parts is a matter of patience to get a decent price but after that it's just a matter of assembly.  No slate to grind, wood to cut, sand and glue etc.  Just a bit of drilling and painting.  Oh, a friend like Velvet Sunrise to machine a couple of parts helps too.  Thanks Steve!

Those resonators are slick.   I do really love the Orbe.  The platter is just plain excellent.

Hi Scott, yes, that platter (and bearing) is something special.  What amuses me is giving it a nudge, wandering off to do something then coming back to see it spinning ever so slowly but it keeps going like this for some time.

Did a bit more work before work and over lunch.

The last one shows the deck being inspected by our new Springer pup Ruby.  Start em young!
