About 1.5 year ago I asked Graham to build one of his chipamps for me. It works really well, but it also made me eager to build one myself and see how it would compare. Graham's uses the bigger LM3886, I wanted to try the much smaller LM1875 since my Klipsches are very efficient and need very little power to make a lot of noise. Reese kindly provided a few chips to try. To keep cost down I used the power supply from Graham. Another exercise in point to point soldering A chip, two resistors, two caps. The complete amp Add a few bits of aluminium and wood Playing Having it switched on for a few days now, I have to say it is pretty good

Now that's what I call a simple amp......I admit I am getting curious . Peter, would you care to write more about its 'sound' - perhaps in comparison to other amps?

So, you finally got around to building it. You might want to try playing around with the power supply. It makes a big difference sometimes depending on the speakers. It´s not a straight forward thing and involves both voltage and size. I found an 18V/200+VA transformer worked best for my setup. But hey, we can talk about this next week.

Try connecting each amp directly to your speakers, ie: no speaker leads.
Paul.

Hi Paul. Only in theory - because you may probably need long interconnects to your pre etc... So you win, you lose. Cheers Chris

Indeed....the simplicity is stunning..... Is there any chance of getting the schematic of your version?
