The european model is DVP-PR30, but I couldn't make out if it was as good so didn't buy one. It is available on Amazon uk and ebay Germany but only in bright colours if you want new.

Wow..... 34.99GBP from Germany.

Now I´m in the same boat as you were Malcolm. How does the European model compare to the Asain one. What I like about this is the small footprint. I really can´t see myself listening to CD´s very often so something small that can be tucked away is ideal.

I have no idea how they compare. However, except for the 'noise' made while reading the CD, the thing works great! I've also used it with my mocromega DUO.Pro DAC and [Zu] digi cable and WOW! You simply check for correct (you can easily hear it) polarity for the mains and then don't (like most digi stuff), turn it off. I'm listening now to a MuFi A1 CD Pro CDP (my MWI Sony 9100 has a faulty cap in one channel, and there are hundreds - is being fixed) and the little Sony does not 'compare' with either, of course, but for the buck, WOW!

Now that just makes me want one even more.  angry

I suspect that the PR30 being sold in Europe is different inside. Just going to have to keep looking for an elusive PR50P.
