Hi,
I have been toying with making a new housing for the Lenco bearing shaft, i finally got something finished and i am quite pleased with the result, it feels very smooth with no detectable play. I think this will be nice addition to my latest slate PTP 4.

Thank you David.

I have been dreaming of a chunky oil tight bearing for some time, but the commercialy available ones are a little expensive for me So the only option is to have a bash at my own.

Hi,

Your right, i think do need help, and i hold you at least partialy to blame Woody grin

Nigella Lawson!, hmmm nice!, but give me a hot Myfod Seven any day! LOL.

The thrust plate proper, ie the little disc is 3mm thick PTFE. I have not listend to this bearing yet but it feels very good. should have it installed at the weekend.

Cheers

Great work, Steve

I was just about to write a little about my own bearing http://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?topic=6263.0 and then I saw yours !  Slightly different aproach than mine, with the thrustplate elevated into the shaft. Looks good and sturdy. Probably no need for the gasket; I finished the 2 surfaces  really smooth, a la Ducati cylinderheads; no gasket no leaks !

You're going to like what you'll hear, I've been playing music with mine for almost 2 weeks now and it's amazing. Never would have thought the difference that big !

Cheers,  Jos

Hi Jos,

Your thread, was the kick start to have a go at my own bearing, you have done an excellent job there.

I was a bit unsure about using a gasket, and i will perhaps try for an oil tight seal between the two parts, i am sure that must be better than a lossy gasketl.

Hi

I have aquired a Mirko bearing (thanks Ian grin) which i have given similar treatment, it wasnt possible to shim the thrust plate on the Mirko to raise the spindle for PTP use, as the bushes are set quite low, and i couldnt move them, so resorted to an oversize ball bearing. which has raised the spindle by around 1mm.

Jos you were right about the gasket, its not needed

Hi Steve,
Having handled your bearing huh I can vouch for the wonderful workmanship, dare say it will sound as good as it looks.  Nice update on the Mirko too smiley

Very beautiful and inspiring stuff from you and Jos! I just got me a lathe but my skills are a far cry
from yours but it is good to see where the hammer hangs and what might be in the pipeline after a lot
of learning and doing. I'm still in the single-puck phase wink
