Luckily, I have two tonearms. I'm trying to get the head off one of them and I think that all I have managed to do so far is shag the knives! Mind you, it doesn't surprise it is on tight. The platter took a while to get off as well - a few sharp knocks with the end of a screwdriver eventually convinced the platter that it wasn't fixed to the spindle.
Oh well, back to the tonearm.

Well, I've definitely made my spare tonearm unusable without any progress. So, I'm either a weakling, or I'm doing something wrong, or I'm unlucky and have tonearms that aren't meant to be taken apart. *rse!

Arghh! that's bad news, the ones I have done have come apart easy, as others have - you could always leave it joined and just remove the connector, although it is difficult on its own.

Yeah, I gave it a good go, even to the point of not worrying about scratching it. No go, nothing moved, showed no sign of coming apart. So, that's one tonearm down. Thanks for the help, though. It was worth trying. To be honest, it looked like the whole arm had been chromed after it had been put together, so there wasn't a clearly obvious gap between the armpipe and the sleeve. Never mind. I don't want to try the second arm in case I damage that one beyond repair as well.

Sorry about that but they are not my pic's, never seen them before, and i have removed them. I will try to find the pic's i did put up. . . I drilled out the end of the headshell connector, and the headshell, and wired from cartridge pins to phono plugs. I did find some green putty like filler inside the arm that was a pig to remove, just done it by pushing some copper wire into the arm and digging it out. Hope that helps.

Hi Andy, I only drilled a small hole in the headshell , drilled between the pins just so i could get the arm wires through, and used Vic's wire for the rewire.
