Those black Elcap jobs are bipolar electrolytics and sound pretty awful. Solens should give a big step up in clarity and detail, especially after a bit of running in. As Malcolm says, the inductors should be fine and changing them to others could upset things as different ones could have a different DC resistance that might upset the sound balance.
Regards, Phil.

Thanks. Any real point 'updating' the resistors at all whilst I'm at it?

Personally I would not bother changing the resistors, the ones on there are reasonable quality wirewounds. Resistors make the least difference and as the speakers are not a "super high end" design I would just check them with a meter and leave it at that. The only other thing is the internal wire. If it is very thin it would be worth replacing it with something thicker (no need to go mad) and solder any connections that are on push on tags, being careful around the tweeter as they can be delicate depending on design.
Phil.

No real point. Except when they're all twisted up, or if you can't connect your new capacitors with them (maybe they are too short?).

Hi, Locations of Kent, Surbiton, Wales, and UK Central means we are spread about a bit! This is a test of my MSP2s at a potential meeting location at J23 M1, I can get this venue any Wed eve 5 till 9 at no cost, and all day Saturday for about £90. So anyone interested in a 2013 Lenco meeting in the Midlands, just continue the conversation here - http://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?topic=10970.0

Hey guys havent you heard the golden rule "friends don't let friends paint their speakers" Hey Fergs, don't worry - in the end I just tried restoring the veneer. These cabinets seem to have had a hard life and are covered in bashes, gouges and ring stains. They'll never be perfect but here's the difference some sandpaper, brown shoe polish and elbow grease makes - the side panel has been lovingly restored (the old scratches still show up on camera of course) but the top is yet to do in this photo: The only painting is to the grille panels which needed to be lightened. The disgusting tweed-style fabric has gone, to be replaced by new light grey acoustic fabric (it was a compromise we agreed upon to keep these speakers in the living room for longer)

OK, I may have lied about the painting - I decided that the baffles should be white too: Cabinet restoration is now complete; next step will be stapling the acoustic cloth to the grilles; then when the new caps arrive later this week I'll repair the crossovers. The final phase will be to get some of those low speaker stands (Target style?) - anybody have a spare pair they wouldn't mind parting with..??

Wow that white makes a huge difference You've made me bring mine back out of storage, replacing the Frugal Horns, Stands...mine are on 16 inch Atcama - I have a pair of 12 inch Atacama if any use, would be a pain to post though.
