Nice collection. I have not listened to a Bakelite headshell before, how does it sound compare to a metal one? I was planning to mount a metal bodied Denon 103 to a metal headshell. Would of course need modification due to the mounting nature of the cartridge, and I'm not ready to hack the headshell yet. Has anyone tried to mount a Metal bodied Denon 103 on an L70 headshell at all? Would it not be too heavy?
We should figure out a mount to slot a 103 directly into a metal Lenco head shell and eliminate the cart body altogether, allowing the head shell to be the body... Great looking table! Looks like you've been cornering the market of extra head shells.

I can't say I can hear a difference between them. Most significant for me is their weight - very heavy cartridges work much better in the lighter bakelite. In fact, I've had heavy carts that I flat out could not balance in a metal headshell. Phil

Have now mounted a metal re-bodied Denon 103 on an original L70 headshell for some time. As I suspected, it won't work with a metal L70 headshell as it would be too heavy and the L70 tonearm won't be able to balance it...but would work perfectly with an L70 bakelite headshell. As a bonus, almost no further counter weight adjustment when swapping metal headshell with Shure M3D cart (4.9g VTF) vs bakelite headshell with metal bodied Denon 103 (2.5g VTF) . Seems like a winner to me. [/img] http://i.imgur.com/Pq70YI9h.jpg#mZBYu[/img]

Yes, good work. Looks like a very shiny L70 arm in the background there! What's the Lp? lyrics in Latin inspired by something at Marilyn Monroe's last home?

That's an overly beautiful tt, you've got there! I wish to get my hands on L70 at some point. *hint hint* -tomi-

Hi - Beautiful tonearm restoration!! How did you get the arm, etc. so shiny? I'd love to have that look too on my headshells. - Thanks - Gunther.

I know this is an old thread, would the B61 take an L75 platter?
Thanks.

Well, the platters are different in detail, but they are the same size and weight. The only difference I can think of is that the L75 has little divots where material was removed to better balance the platter.

The L75 platter has a wider lip than the earlier platters, as can be seen here: http://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?topic=6281.0It seems that the L75 platter could be used with an L70/B61 if a suitable thrust pad is added to raise the bearing, as mentioned by Colin in the linked thread above.

Yes, I forgot about the thrust pad. Otherwise it will fit.
