Well i've been using a Lampizator for a couple of years now, and think it's excellent.
It's made a real improvement to a TD1541 based player and also to a Pioneer DVD player.
I now use it as a tube output stage for a Lampucera type DAC, and the general consensus from those who have heard it, is extremely positive.
I think the guy deserves a medal for his entertaining no nonsense approach, and for coming up with simple projects which are suitable for beginners.

Thanks for your opinion Al! I frankly disqualify for his DIY as I lack the knowhow but I'd like to hear his products. Certainly his "no nonsense" approach (half-way makes sense to me) is appealing. I have a soft heart for modifications, owning a CDP that is next to unknown here in Germany. Strange for me is that with all the 'serious' enthusiasts living in this country, not one has called or written about my 'for sale' ad (wanted to upgrade to MWI Transporter). Hundreds of 'clicks' but not a single bite. One party from Paris was all. Now, had the press endorsed Dan Wright's (Lampizator, et al), work in 'German,' well I guess that would be another story.

Absolutely, if it were not for Lukasz, I would not know anything about the inside of a CD player.
I also hope I do not discourage anyone from trying his mods just because I don't think "it's the best" - I just wanted to state a little caution.  When I first bought my old Marantz CD40 and played it stock I thought it was unlistenable - absolute crap.  Staggering what those mods did to it but there are plenty of stock players that beat it.   But I should keep in mind the Marantz is only "Catagory 2" smiling  Lastly, looking forward to another player of mine (Rotel 855) to get hit with the Lampizator smiling

Hi,
It seems that this tread is dead. May be I could add some life to it? I am very fond of my Lencos (6 of them), but still like to fiddle with other sources.

I found the Lampizator site and got curious. I had to try it, and ordered all the components for the Lampucera version. With a lot of help from Mr. Lukasz Fikus, I managed to assemble this little "bird's nest".

Using my Pioneer PD-S06 only as player, this DAC sounds wonderful; yes WONDERFUL. The instruments sound real; the singer's lip movements are heared without being irritating, and their voices are very similar to live voices on stage. I have to tinker a lot on my best Lencos if they should be able to compete in this league. Sorry guys....

Hi Tangen,

Glad you picked up the ball... I've found the members here are not too fond about discussing 'other sources' outside TTs (Lencos, in particular, obviously) and some analog taping. When I get a chance I'll read up on your DAC and maybe can comment somewhat further.

That should be a nice DAC indeed.  You know, you could have used a larger chassis  laugh

You may find even better results if you change out those coupling <hint, hint>

Very nice.  I must have screwed mine up a few months ago.  Turned it on and no signal out.  What disappoints me the most is I never checked to make sure it worked out of the box.  I tinkered with it immediately.  Ticks me off because the mods are not difficult - the board is small but does not require micro surgery.  The fella who sells them told me he'd sell me circuit board only without transformer and PS - I should get back to it.  Thanks.

Yes, I could have used a larger chassis, but I like them small  wink. You see, I got some solid, but small, SCSI-cabinets from the IT-department at my university. In them I have put Peter Daniel's LM3875 amp and his phonoclone phono-pre-amp, and now this DAC.

Do you have any coupling caps in mind? These are old Ero MKP1841, that have a reputation of sounding good. I have used this kind of film-capacitors a long time, but may be it's time to change habits?

Yes, you should have  wink. Have you used the capacitors mentioned and would recommend them in this configuration? And yes, you should have tried the board in the op amp version first. I did - out of experience cheesy. To many times I have embarked on projects that turn out wrong. It is difficult to trace back where the problems started this way. You have to try this once more. Very revealing, but pleasant and natural (convincing) sound.
