Here's the EAR 834P Clone I had bought a few months back and did most of the upgrades that will be added to the Final All out build of my next EAR 834P project which I have already completed  the pcb's/

I will be adding a Selector switch for different capacitance to my DIY EAR 834P clone all out build. I was thinking of these cap values. I have ordered a nice selector switch for 6 inputs.
50pF
100pF
150pF
200 or 220pF
and 300 or 330pF

Hopefully these will cover most MM cartridges.

The MC cartridges will use a SUT so no need to add resistance loading for MC carts.

Anyone see any value missing that I may need? The first input will be a bypass with no value like the EAR has on their inputs.

I received my newest parts for my All Out EAR 834P Clone Build. I received the Power switch, the selector switch for the different capacitance with the different cap values, Power supply film caps from Solen, and Knobs I will using on the the front of the chassis. on top of these I have already received the 30uf caps for the main PCB B+ line which are Solen film caps and need be I will use the 0.33uf Auricap OX film caps to by pass.

I already have the Antek power transformer, Choke, and all other upgraded parts for the build which I already built up and ready to install. Next will be the internal wiring and RCA's which I have already as well, Cardas Rhodium RCA's and Furutech Rhodium IEC plug.

I'm seriously thinking of adding a timing circuit for power ON.  The switch I got is capable of turning on the the heaters first and then the B+ .

here a pic of the parts.

I will post more when I get the chassis up and built.

Quick note:

User spaceistheplace has been dealing with some health issues and requires his "audio room" space to be cleared for another use.

All remaining TMOQ 834p (about 3 dozen?) boards have been provided to diyaudio user "tronan" for distribution. These include the tube PSU, SS PSU, and the evolved TMOQ 834p boards. Please inquire with him for any further needs in this regard.

Additionally, a clearout of some of his items can be found on the swap meet here.

Would appreciate if any forum mods see this, that this information could be passed around. Spaceitheplace was an active member here for many years, and heavily involved in the 834p thread in particular.

So sorry to hear of Space is the Place health issue. Hope everything gets better!
I know this question probably should be directed to him as it pertains to the original post if this thread. But maybe someone else might have some insight.
In the list of parts to aquire, it is suggested to buy 3 sets of rca jacks:

 6x Neutrik NF2D (1 set input, 1 set loading, 1 set output) | (3 x Part #: NF2D-B-2, 3 x Part #: NF2D-B-9 )

I'm unclear on how the set for loading works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am finally putting together my 834. I bought the upgrade parts kit from Spaceistheplace. There is a Sprague 1 uF capacitor which I think is supposed to go across the 100uF 16V electrolytic. Can I mount it according to the picture? (I will mount it from the underside.)

Hi folks. I am building one with Jessica PSU and douk zhill boards that I bought from John. Jessica board has 6.3v + and - out. The 834 board does not have an indication of + and -  just that one track is broader than other. How should I wire the 834 6.3v connection?

Second question is I will be using an external SUT. So should I still add a ground lug terminal and connect to chassis ground? Or just omit it. Thanks

hello Kiran, I guess it doesn't matter if it + or -, you can connect the way you want.

Some SUT need to be connected to ground and others don't, just try.

Hello
I am new to the forum, but I have read the topics about EAR 834 mods at length. Thank you for sharing your information and experiences. I am building a clone with the Zhiliaudio black card, which I have split into two. When I was wiring it, I noticed that the ground point (triangle) at the line input is not connected to anything! This does not seem normal to me. Is the problem known ? What should I do ?

Thank you very much

Hello François,

in the first page of this thread, almost at the end, in the reply #3, there is a picture of the wiring of the preamp (with green and red arrows) and it shows that the triangle point (the ground) should be connected to the ground of the power supply and to the ground post so you can connect the ground of the tonearm,
it is just an "intermediate" point (to make the wiring clear), I guess you can skip it and connect the phono ground jack to the power supply ground as shown in the picture.

Cheers

Hello Mike

I have seen the diagram on the first page.
I don't see the use of an intermediate point on a board.
Shouldn't the ground plane (black area, small connection points in the corners) also be connected to ground ?

Those 4 points are where you bolt the board to the chassis.
If the chassis is grounded I guess there is no need to connect these points to ground.

No they are right next to the fixing points but are not connected. In fact I do not understand why the ground point (triangle) is not connected to the ground plane.
