Hi to all! Great to be back here. I need your help. I have here a 834 diy with zhily board (the golden one, not the blue, to be clear) damaged.
The 3 last resistors on the psu are burned, and there is no way to read the value. Either cant find a schematic with those values and there is no indication on the board. Also some zeners have been damaged, but that is easy. 1N5373 or 4 (depending on voltage needed).
Can somebody give me the correct value of those resistors? @mikeh
Thanks (i will add a picture too,later)
Fabrizio

I also just had the main PSU resistor burn up, and a Zener disintegrate.
I posted over on the Power Supply section at DIYAudio. And feedback was that the two biasing resistors (3k and 3.3k) were not large enough, and were drawing 17mA of current across the Zener stack, which was much too high. It should be around 5mA, and those resistors should be more like 8.8k each. The over current with the 3k resistors causes an overvoltage of the Zeners and higher power dissipation.
A quick test with 1Watt resistors at 5.7k (I only had 5.7k and 10k available ) confirmed a more steady B+.
I have new higher wattage 8k resistors on order, should be able to install this weekend. (The 1Watt resistors are a little too low for long term comfort in those spots)
Overall. The Transistor/zener stack seems to be a weak point on this PSU. I plan to rebuild it with a Tube Rectifier (EZ80 hybrid bridge), CLCRC filter, and a 0D3+0C3 cascade for regulation.

Yep. Works better with two 8.2K resistors in those spots. Should be much easier on the zener stack.

Did anyone tried ECC808 as input tube?
This tube is a special ECC83 but with different pin connections.
Is not direct replacement, take care.
I have tested this phono with 12AD7 tube and the result is amazing. Is having the same pin connection but higher heater current.
