That looks fantastic (and expensive)! Nice work! The power supply looks very capable! You can probably use it for arc welding, if the need should arise. Did you buy the enclosures or did you make them from scratch?

wow! Is that outputting more than 25w? Whats the rundown on the power supply and any modifications to the standard F5 board? Details please. The power supply looks very capable! You can probably use it for arc welding, if the need should arise. You made me dribble my coffee Nic!

Thank you for the comments
I bought four heat sinks(used), the rest is my metal work (lots of drilling and tapping), later discovered that the copper was an overkill.
The power supply = Canterbury Windings 400va 2x0-18@11.1a/Gband. Eight MUR820. Eight Kendeil 10,000uf 50v. Eight Dale wire wound .47ohm 1%. Two BHC 47,000uf 100v. Standard boards, biased at just over .6v, 25w approx.

Very nice work, and nice sounding amps with minimal stages. I love how Nelson Pass shares his simpler designs and First Watt stuff wityh the community. He clearly "gets it". Great work, it's not the simplest of tasks to wedge everything in chassis like that so they fit and make sense.

Why did you build such massive power supplies? Whats the theory and game plan for them? One channel's power supply can drive both sides and still have some headroom . I love the craziness of them

First I must say that my knowledge of electronics is limited. Leaving out the math, the transformer is a little more than required for 25/30 watt class A. I don't know of a formulae to calculate the required capacitance of a class A amplifier, I used what I had !, class A benefits from plenty of uf (I have seen F5 amp's with a lot more uf). Giving each channel it's own a power supply I understand can result in better separation.

The stiffer the power supplies, the more headroom. There’s other considerations like ESR and such, but I’ve never regretted over-built power supplies. I’m not a big fan of regulators, they seem to constrain the sound and reduce dynamics, but there’s pluses and minuses to every perspective. Most important is to have fun!
Again, nice job.

Stereo F5t Been working for a few months, sounds great. Great build. I also have an oversize psu in my F4. I would love to have mono blocks but I really like being married.
