what is more important than the colour match is whether the chassis, the platter and the tonearm in a possession of the same person or not  undecided

Hello all,

this is a very interesting message; I never knew that EMT built a turntable like this, and I own /have owned a fair number of them  during the years, especially when I was writing my book about EMT turntables (  http://www.stefanopasini.it/EMT_Deutsche_Perfektion-2.htm ). I did find many unusual/rare examples at a time when very few people were looking for EMTs, but this one is a 'first' for me.
If you look carefully at the details of the chassis you will see that the structure is similar to the chassis of the 930, whilst the pushbuttons speed selector reminds me of some cheaper products of the same era. I'd imagine that after the huge success of the 927 and 930 in the broadcasting studios, EMT wanted to enlarge its customer base with a visually more attractive, less expensive model; the compact dimensions and the frivolous colour would support this idea. Neumann tried to do the same with its very rare plattenspieler. Whilst the tonearm could very hypothetically be a fake, i.e. a cheap arm with a fake EMT branding, IMHO the base is too much similar to a 930s to be a scam. I would be very curious to learn more about it.

All the best from Italy,

Stefano Pasini

Above exploded view of a 930st

Above: previously shown sample of this mystery turntable.
Clearly there are two different platter systems.  and I presume the chassis size to be smaller on the 'non-broadcast' unit.

My thought, in order to authenticate this find, -- one would look for documentation (any kind) to support its existence.  Corporate authorized sale advertisements, for instance.  This turntable is too early, we presume, to be included in the EMT-Courier bulletin that was first published in the early sixties.
Magazine articles (any language) and advertisements.

It does look like something that EMT could have built, had they intended to.  But as a changer...?  Would they do that?

I wonder about the pivot to spindle distance on that sample.  Does it duplicate the EMT 929 or Ortofon RMA 229 mounting distance?
