Phono tube PCF802 from VLAD purchased here (Mille Grazie) and know zero about it other than I am impressed at its sound. VLAD (Vladimir?) is over at DIY Audio forum and offered boards and pieces but I can’t locate anything else. Anybody able to help me? Btw, I don’t know how to PM at DIY Audio. Thanks! Cheers!

Thanks Anwesh! Sent PM for infos.
Just into 4th minute listening (tubes can’t even be ready yet, or?), and am focused on the piano playing of Phillip Goodland-Tate :Oceans Away. Before the lockdown and while I still lived in Essen there is The Music Workshop, a not-for-profit theater where musicians give concerts for under $20 seat, and front row is 3 meters from the Concert Yamaha Grand... Well, it got my ears back in tune and this little box does all sorts of things ‘right’, or something like that!
Cheers!

Now into 20+ minutes and Art Garfunkel :Angle Clare is tremoloing ( ) like his voiceprint so well does. The music is flowing as if this was the Master Tape R2R. On ‘All I Know’ I don’t remember hearing the piano throughout the entire song. Is this my new arm, cartridge breaking in, the phono stage? Read: all of the above but the fluid flow is surely this preamp. Check! Cheers!

Hi, I am VLAD - the builder of this phono stage . I am glad that you like the sound of this simple phono. I was also impressed by the sound provided by this tube PCF802 used in few audio applications (McIntosh use this tube). My idea was to build a very good sounding tube preamp with a reasonable price. Usually, the tube phono preamps are very expensive and the tubes dedicated to audio more and more expensive (eg. ECC83). Let me know if you want to know something more. Vlad, why don't you post an offer for a kit and for the complete phono stage in Traders? You never know In case you do, it will be interesting to know where you are shipping from.

There are so many potentially great tubes for audio that don't get much attention. It is really nice to see a design that uses one of them.

I agree that you could offer a kit. Your phono stage is a real pleasure. I switch it on and by the time I’ve got my LP ready, it sounds great (AT OC30 vdH into Mayware T-24 autoformer). The presentation is purely involving in all parameters with nothing missing and nothing in-your-face. A real delight. Good luck Vladimir if you decide to make a cottage industry of it. Cheers!

Than you for your feedback. I will offer a kit in the trade section for this phono at a fair price. I wish to be more people enchanted by the magic of the sound of tubes.
