Will do Vlad.

I carefully added metal shielding in the case between transformers and PCB so anything to improve shielding will help although there is no noticeable noise.

It's difficult to find a nice case at a reasonable price and I don't like tubes poking out, they should be protected.

Case I used was this one.

Went to the HiFi Wigwam show in it's new venue in Barnsley yesterday. Much better location and a great show.

Took Vlad's DAC with me and lent it to a couple of exhibitors to try out. Got some very complimentary comments from both exhibitors and visitors.
You could be having a few more orders from the UK at this rate.

Very nice setup.
Thank you for taking the DAC with you at this expo.

I will travel monthly to UK and maybe we I will have the chance to participate as such event or to meet and have a beer/wine.

Regards,
Vlad

I haven’t but would definitely be interested to hear your impressions. Not that there’s anything wrong with how the DAC sounds with the original tubes

Hi,

The tube output of the DAC is with 6n2p tube. There are no tubes direct  replacement and please DO NOT test other tubes because you will damage the DAC.

You can test 6n2p or 6n2p-ev from different producers. Can be found on ebay at low price.

Regards,

Vlad

Vlad is the man!

I found a Polish seller who sent me a closely matched pair for small cash…

I love Vlad’s DAC!

Cheers !

So after a few months of using the dac my friend is facing an issue. Until now the dac was temporarily mounted on a piece of plywood. It was shifted to a proper case with the valves sticking outside a few days ago. As soon as it was fired up it started distorting. This was traced to the chip overheating.. It looks like this is not a rare problem.

My friend has installed a heatsink that delayed the onset of the problem. A fan fitment is next on the cards and the parts have been ordered.

Hi,

Today I had time for testing the DAC kit with Amanero USB interface. It worked from the first time and the sound is really good. Now I can use my tablet or laptop to listen music from streaming services.

The connection of the Amanero is very simple and fast.

For DIY projects I recommend this enclosure - https://ro.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Hammond-Manufacturing/1550JBK?qs=fnYUjNMxfVBrxIqn8TPG6w%3D%3D&countryCode=RO&currencyCode=RON
Very good quality and fair price.

I have built a new DAC in this enclosure and I like how it looks.

So my tda1541 is up and running very breadboard style and sounds amazing fed by a Wave IO USB board. I'll report further when I've done some more listening but it's very impressive. Only tweak I made was to sub some Teflon caps for the output
