I've owned this for maybe 18 years. Amazing player that sounds fantastic, but as usual, the laser started to go weak.
Unsurprising as it's ex broadcast and would have done alot of hours, that and it being 36 years old!

I managed to track down a very low use technics midi system that uses the same laser. Swapped in the replacement and it works flawlessly again!
Some of the buttons were needing to be pressed just right, or needed a firm press, so I also replaced all the micro switches on the control panel pcb and were in business!

Delight to use once more.

It's been under a cupboard for 5 years so I'd forgotten how nice it sounds. For CD anyway.

I suspect I have sold it now though, and I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing, but I barely own any cds and these Things are worth decent money now!

Enjoy it. Sell it. Grieve for it.  I still feel sad about losing my first nice watch in the sea 10 years ago. It was a ‘diver’ with a new battery so I like to think it is tumbling around in the Mediterranean, ticking away.   In 10 years years your deck will be ding the same (perhaps on a stand, rather than underwater..).

Never saw your reply! Shame about the watch.

The buyer backed out so I still have this, happily.
Maybe I'll sell it one day, but happy to keep it for now. Especially as I now have an sl110 to keep it company.
