Hello,

I find this and very nice thread. I read about music I am not so familiar with combined with nice pictures of vintage audio.

It's also nice to see how you inspire and encourage each other.
Wonderful to see and to read.

Thanks.

In recent days, gastroenteritis has taken me away from the world. No food, no wine, no reading, no music. In a word, zombie. Today, now slightly recovered, I have decided to celebrate (I would like to do it with a glass of red wine and a good farm cheese, but I am not so daring)

I hope you make a full recovery soon. Music will help you!

Chet in up tempo and not singing.
You do not hear that much of him.
Italian recording in 1962. Mono.
Actually amazing it never really came out in stereo.
Great for me.
Italian RCA issue.

Some mono lps filed in the oddments section, which is for discs I find difficult to categorise.

"Chet Baker is back"... A great record. Unfortunately for Chet Baker as leader I don't have anything in mono but several LP's in stereo. In mono I have some 10" in which Chet appears as part of the Gerry Mulligan Quartet. A record that I really like, very cool, is this one that I'm listening to now

Colin, those two albums in your "oddments section" will not be the most canonical versions of those compositions but they are fun. Telefunken pressings usually sound very good, I suppose that's the case with that one.

Early in the morning picking the last bitter oranges from our yard. Today we will make marmelade seasoned with jazz (and a little aged rum  grin)

Ah, that one is of 1958 and must be mono. The cover is of the first issue of 1957.
I have the music twice, a record (mono of course) from 1960 and a "mono re-issue' of 1962.
BTW there are no stereo version or it must be 'remastered on cd' (maybe).

Your 'GIANTS' brings me to this one: The first LP that I consciously bought because it was mono,
purchased in the mid-90s. Firsst issue 1956 (of course) and mine from 1982, released in Japan.

Hi Juan,

Marmalade?  Mmmm...

At this stage of my Classical music education, I think canonical versions might be wasted on me!   smiley

I agree about Telefunken pressings, the ones I have demonstrate good dynamics.  This one managed to surprise me a couple of times.  More from the oddments bin

With the first, and most laborious, phase of the marmelade completed (peel the oranges, separate seeds and pulp, cut part of the peel into thin strips...), it is time to rest. A coffee in the "patio" while this plays on the Grundig radio

Six Eye records: "delicatessen" in sound

I'm working on a similar system, but like Rene, I will use a switch box to allow more than one input to the radio.

Ideal for auditioning a few new-to-me mono discs, or (sacrilege!) playlist streaming.

Good work with the marmalade, how long before you can try it?   smiley

From the oddments bin, a small collection of Vox mono discs - first 2
