Hi all
Trying to add an image of my platter with a silver insert which I guess is to make it level. The problem is it’s not perfectly flat and creating a wobble. Wondering how to remove it and if that would be advisable. I’ll keep trying to add an image. Seems I can’t do it. I tried Imgbox..
Thank you, Fergus

Step 1: navigate to the image you want to post, which in your instance is this one: https://imgbox.com/NyZbJHU1Step 2: right click the image, select "copy image address" Step 3: Then put bbcode into your post. You can type it out manually, it takes a couple of seconds. The bbcode is very simple, it looks exactly like this: [img]https://images2.imgbox.com/f0/ef/NyZbJHU1_o.jpeg[/img] Which gives you this result:

Looks like this centre disc was glued on by a previous owner. I’ve seen many like this but wondering if it’s not better to have a platter without this. Tha would make more sense to me but I’m not sure.

Maybe I should've said something earlier, but I have a G99 and there is no disc adhered to the platter
In the end, I used a GL78 mat on the G99 because it fit neatly across the centre depression of the platter.
What mat do you have for this deck?

No problem. I appreciate the response. I’ve been using a Lencohell platter with spindle extension which is great for levelling the tonearm on the G99 sunken platter. Imho it also adds some detail and bass. A slight wobble has been bugging me for a while now and today I watched the original platter rotating.. no movement… then with a record directly on the platter reveals that centre glued-on disc is warped, maybe detached at one side. Should I try and pry it off and clean whatever is underneath? Cheers Maybe I should've said something earlier, but I have a G99 and there is no disc adhered to the platter

Personally, I'd try to use a solvent first – the platter is enamelled (at least, it seems to be?), I'd be worried about taking it off without trying to soften the glue a bit beforehand!
Heat occurred to me, too. But I wouldn't use much, just enough to see if the solvent glue* becomes gummy
Let us know how you get on
*Edit – I meant glue will get gummy from heat, not solvent!

Thanks for the suggestion. What kind of solvent would you recommend? Will definitely let you know how it goes. Personally, I'd try to use a solvent first – the platter is enamelled (at least, it seems to be?), I'd be worried about taking it off without trying to soften the glue a bit beforehand!
