The title says it all

I just bought a B52, upon inspection I noticed that the bearing is missing the ball, and also it’s overall construction is a bit slight to my tastes. Also plenty of aftermarket pads, balls etc available for the L75.

Can’t be ar$3d to take the platter off my 75 to check, surely someone here has already tried it  cheesy

The hole of the top plate including the bolt holes is one thing, another thing is if the taper of the spindle.

Thank you in advance!

Well, the 5mm ball from an L75 bearing will lift the B52 spindle too high. Anyone have an idea what diameter the B52 bearing ball is?

Bearing balls are sold separately, about 2-3€ per 20, so it would be relatively easy to just buy a bunch of them in 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5mm, maybe even 4mm sizes. But then I would have 99 extra ones kicking around  laugh

Hello KariFS,

the bearing ball is 3 mm. That size is also used in the B 50-16, B 51 and B 55.

Kind regards
Max

Thank you very much for this information Max!

I’ll see if the local bearing shop has those or if I need to order them. I briefly thought about maybe sourcing a ceramic ball and a plastic thrust plate, but I guess steel vs steel will work just as well. Never had a turntable with a grease bearing before

An update… Yes, the local bearing guy had 3mm bearings available at 0.20€ each. Temu might have been cheaper…  undecided

Bought one and 9 spares  laugh He also had some really nice circlip pliers, bought the smallest one, 22€. Very nice feel to them, better than what I ”need”, but I really like quality tools. Building a complete set from these would get expensive, but I already have ”adequate” bigger ones for the occasional automotive use. These are for HiFi use only.
