Hello again
Has anybody heard of pacparts
They have the tranverse assembly for 70 bucks - it looks like the original denon part

Or can I just get away with replacing the laser head for 20 bucks

I've been reading around and the general consensus is replacing the optic laser head will do the trick

Any thoughts ?

Sorry for bring this up again but as much as I like my Lenco listening to the other mediums is just as enjoyable

I have dealt with PacParts under their old name, Pacific Coast Parts.  They were the West Coast distributor for Kenwood parts and I had no problems.

Disclaimer: it has been more then six years...

Thanks Gene

I picked up a laser head from Liberty Electronics  (I found out that the Hitachi hop 100 is the optical laser that is used in the Denon 2900
I understand it's a drop in part and doesn't require any alignment

Any instructions on how to install.

My transport guru buddy thinks that's a drop-in as well.   wink

Thanks Scott
Here's hoping the laser head is all that is needed to fix my issue
I opted to not go for the entire traverse assembly as based on what i've read repairing the head fixed the issue 99 percent of the time
I'm crossing my fingers on this one

Happy Easter LH

USUALLY with the correct laser pickup, it's a matter of disconnecting the plug-in wiring, mechanically removing the old pickup assembly, and reversing the process to install the new one.  Don't forget to unsolder the solder bridge that provides ESD protection for the uninstalled pickup, and take precautions against ESD until all the wires are plugged back in.  The laser pickup comes from the factory with its drive current preadjusted, and almost always with the adjusting pot lock-painted.  The tracking and focus servos in the player are usually enough to compensate for normal variations in mounting.
