Might take you up on that Daniel! Cheers!

You would be very welcome John

You can even build a component cable from the standard composite cable that comes with the xbox. Add a analogue or digital output for audio and you have the best of both worlds

Another way I have set a few people up with is to use an original xbox modified to run xbox media centre.

It supports all audio formats, internet streaming, standard def video, photos, local disk and LAN playback.
The standard 10gb HDD can be upgraded to any size for more storage space.

If you live in the UK, or know how to use a proxy wink then you can play video and radio from the bbc iplayer.

They are very cheap to buy now and can support HD with a component cable.
Fairly quiet in use too, and can be made quieter by replacing the standard fan.

I'm using the exact same setup connected to our lounge TV, 150gb drive in it and networked. The add-on remote is a worthwhile addition. It even plays DVDs and upscales, drat I bought a component cable.

Mine is hard modded though.

You should be able to get a good used one on eBay for less that £10 plus shipping

So I see but I am having trouble locating

"The Action Replay kit—Action Replay is a USB interface to an Xbox memory card that lets you load pre-saved, unlocked games and cheats onto the card. You see where this is going. I snagged one on Amazon for about $40."

Is this a CD or (as it looks) a USB -thingy & software? Might it be called 'Replay Action' kit here? There is such (for a Euro on eBuy) but no mention of a USB-thingy...

And Daniel, you have that Clancy game?

Could I have the seller send you the Xbox direct? Think i could manage myself ( shocked )? Rather eat glass light bulbs...   cheesy

Yes that would work, or I have several spare xbox's here....... would save you two lots of shipping.

Making a component cable is a bit of a faff. Found a seller (no affiliation) who has them for £5.50 with analogue audio outs
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330503035228&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2086wt_1139
or you can get one with an optical out for £10

No, not yet. I'm so happy with my micromega DUO.Pro DAC into Promitheus tube gain stage, well - I don't know where to put it? It is still on  my radar though. As you reported, they go for real cheap-
