I received from my friend Rudy a broadcast original console with 2 EMT 927 decks . I didn't know what to expect until I had them in my listening room... They are in bad state, but I took the challenge to bring them back to life… They were the decks used by Marc Moulin at the Belgian Radio National broadcast in the fifties/ sixties. Rudy bought them to Marc and they were playing perfectly. That was 30 years ago. Then Rudy moved to Hollywood ( he is a special effects movie maker ) and the decks were moved many times and during one moving the two platters were lost…25 years ago ! During the last 2 years they were badly stored outside in open air... So when I met Rudy I asked him to give them to me for a resurrection…he is a very knowledgeable musical person, he will be at our next meet and he will follow the restoration with great interest.

They look dirty, but not so bad. Time to try DJing JLau ! All the EMT team is very nice and I'm sure they'll be happy to help you with them. The firm : http://www.emt-studiotechnik.deFabritus, an ex EMT worker : http://www.fabtech.deDusch, an other ex EMT worker : http://www.emt-profi.de/index-b.htmStefano, a true Italian EMT lover : http://www.stefanopasini.it/EMT_index_Main.htm JP Van Vliet, who had to do some restorations, as well : http://www.jpvanvliet.nlHave some happy next months

Both motors , idler system, tonearm system are working, but need servicing. The phonopreamps are missing, not a big deal, as we can use any phonopreamp and if we want we can buy new 139 stb from Hans Van Vliet : http://www.jpvanvliet.nl/139stb.htmlThe main challenge here is to have the platters / spindle . I asked all the specialists and the answer is always the same : no way to find 2 original platters 927. So I wil have to build 2 new ones with the original specs, or if possible, even better bearing / platter than the original… The missing part is GP, GR & W: I took off the female bearing witch is huge and diameter of spindle hole is 20 mm : As you see, the bushings are quite worn out, so I think that a whole new complete bearing is necessary... Last pic compared to Garrard 301 bearing...

Whow Jean-Lau... Good luck with your new project. If you find a cheap way to rebuild a platter : let me know. I dream to have an a-magnetic platter for my TD-124 but Schoeppers one are way too expensive!

I contacted Hans Van Vliet and he cannot do anything for me…when I told him that we have here NASA building spaceships companies he was very interested to follow this project ! I contacted Frederic from g-t-i. de and he can build the glass upper platters/ strobe but not the platters. I wait for the answer of Fabritius. I still have to contact Stefano Pasini , EMT-studiotecnik and Dush. But I do not want to have too many parts from external companies…I would like to keep this as a DIY project with our local craftsmanship. I am sure that we can do better than the original 927 with the parts we have...

We are thinking of Titanium, but very hard to buy, so if someone has a source… If not titanium it will be high grade aluminum or stainless steel.

Wow, Jean... For want of better words: This is so cool! I've read about Stefano Pasini's restorations and one of his looked like a proper wreck compared to these. I'm sure that they will become museum pieces when you're done with them. What about bronze for the platter?

As Rudy told me, restoration is cost-no object, so I might order two new EMT 997 tonearms + one new TDS 15 stereo and one new TMD 25 mono cartridge.

Hi Hans,
I want the oposit! I would like to avoid the magnetic platter of my TD-124 by having build another one in a non magnetic material (in french the preposition a is a negation, I thought it was the same in English, sorry for my mis-writing)...
I hope that we will listen together soon to this mother ship twin turntables board!

That is a challenge, but a great one. Have fun with it. Those are really worth all the time and money that you will spent on them.

We are thinking of Titanium, I'm not sure if titanium is the way forward, it's comparatively light so I would have thought that any flywheel effect would be reduced. If you still want to consider it I have some people I could ask. Alex
